Carousels are far and few between in America. But oddly, San Francisco has two (or maybe it’s not so odd, since San Francisco is really quite odd itself).
One of these carousels is located in the heart of the tourist mecca known as Fisherman’s Wharf.
Sadly, due to FW’s bad rep as black hole of kitschy kiosks, many of my fellow San Franciscans are quite unaware of the creepily beautiful gems awaiting them at Pier 39.
